Ultimately, your health is in your hands, and you need to take the initiative to become as healthy as you can be. You are always in charge of your treatment choices, and we’re here to help you make the best choices possible.
Our philosophy is that health is not merely the absence of disease, but also a definite feeling of well-being and balance – mentally, emotionally and physically.
Holistic medicine addresses the root causes of illness and disease, which are often psychological or emotional in nature. We understand that health depends largely on a person's state of mind. Holistic treatments such as Chinese Medicine, Bodywork and Energy Therapies combine to offer you a complete healing experience.

Barefoot Therapists
Danielle King:
Danielle is a Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a Reflexologist and a Registered Acupuncturist. She is a graduate of the Holt School of Natural Medicine and believes in an integrated holistic approach to wellness. Danielle understands that everyone's state of health and wellness is affected by their emotions, diet, environment and behaviour. She works closely with her patients to discover the root causes of their physical and emotional symptoms; she then creates individual treatment plans to help them find relief and achieve sustained balance and vitality over the long term.
Danielle sees medicine as an art and utilizes a unique approach for each individual to encourage movement towards one's greatest self. She enjoys using bodywork, acupuncture, and nutrition simultaneously in her practice to create healing across a broad spectrum. This can manifest in a mind-body-spirit approach. Danielle looks to uncover the cause of illness and find out what is really going on for the patient. While working to learn the underlying issues of your complaints, she listen’s with a gentle ear and has an outgoing, warm spirit.
Danielle specializes in treating acute and chronic pain, sport’s injuries, allergies, digestive issues, fatigue and emotional conditions including stress, anxiety, depression and addictions, as well as men's and women's reproductive health (including fertility enhancement).
Danielle also works as a spiritual counsellor and was ordained as an Interfaith Minister in 2005.
Craig McLean:
Craig takes a holistic view of massage, healing and life and believes that one cannot be separated from the other. The uppermost aim in his treatment is to equip everyone with an individual toolbox in order to become his or her own pathfinder and to be able to access the powers within. Craig was honoured and privileged enough to be guided and taught by wonderful teachers from all over the world, who shared their knowledge and wisdom beyond textbooks. Having studied and worked as a Shiatsu Therapist and Reiki Practitioner for almost 15 years, Craig is dedicated and committed to share and offer his experiences and knowledge.
Craig believes in the power of the drum to heal, transform, and unite. He is rooted in the universal principles of drumming, rhythm, and ceremony, and is committed to bridging the realms of indigenous wisdom and the modern world. He is a drum circle facilitator, a music educator, session player and accomplished performer. He has provided rhythm events for corporate team building, community groups and promotional events here in Hamilton and abroad. The James North Art Crawl, The Hamilton Pagan Pub Moot and Ten Thousand Villages are among the many organizations that have hosted events with “Konga Craig”. His boundless enthusiasm and endless patience has made him a first call hand drummer in Hamilton and has allowed him to bring his love of drumming to so many people! He currently facilitates an open drumming circle at Shanti Yoga Studio every other Sunday.
Therapies
TCM / Acupuncture - When people think of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), most would think of acupuncture and pain relief. However, TCM is a primary form of healthcare that has specializations in many different medical fields, making it effective for numerous health problems.
Massage Therapy - Massage therapy is a hands-on manipulation of the body’s soft tissues, mainly, muscles, connective tissues, joints, tendons and ligaments. Treatment has a therapeutic effect by acting on the musculoskeletal, nervous and circulatory systems.
Diet & Nutrition
Reflexology - Reflexology, sometimes called reflex zone therapy, involves the massage of certain points on the feet and, less often, the hands and head. These points correspond to specific zones in the body and that massaging these points can relieve stress and prevent or treat disease.
Reiki - Reiki is a Japanese touch therapy for relaxation and pain relief that also promotes healing. Although Reiki is "hands-on", unlike massage, Reiki is administered through a very gentle touch.
Aromatherapy - Aromatherapy, reputed to be at least 6000 years old, is based on the ancient principle that the spirit and the body should be in harmony. This healing art combines the aromatic essence of plants, known as essential oils, with a relaxing therapeutic massage, bath, inhalation, cream or prepared compress to restore a state of well-being.
Tuina (Chinese Acupressure) - Tuina Massage is a Chinese massage and can be used for many different conditions including digestive disorders, muscle pain and headache. It uses the same theories as acupuncture by manipulating the acupuncture points but uses the practitioner's fingers, thumbs, hands and elbows, instead of acupuncture needles.
Shiatsu (Japanese Acupressure) - Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on Japanese healing therapy. A deeply relaxing experience, regular Shiatsu sessions, can help to prevent the build up of the stress we all experience in our daily lives. It is useful in treating a wide range of conditions – from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health.
Ear Candling - Ear candling (or coning) is a natural, non-invasive and relaxing treatment which safely and gently stimulates the ear's natural ability to cleanse and balance itself.
Detoxification - Our cleansing and detoxification program is a series of personalized steps taken in order to actively enhance the elimination of toxic wastes from your body that are creating, or have the potential to create bothersome symptoms and disease.
Hot Stone Therapy - Hot Stone Massage is the use of heated basalt stones in a massage treatment, with some placed on the body and others used by the therapist to massage.
Lymphatic Drainage - Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a form of massage that stimulates the lymphatic system with gentle massaging strokes. The light rhythmical massage encourages the lymphatic system to eliminate metabolic waste products, excess fluid and bacteria.
